A full life is all about the relationships.
I was born in Washington, D.C. in May, 1944, the youngest of three siblings. My father worked at the State Department there, involved in the initial post-war planning to establish the United Nations. He died suddenly in 1950, and four years later our family moved to Seattle, WA where I grew up, graduating from Lincoln High School, then attended Stanford University in Palo Alto CA, majoring in history and pre-medicine, having had a future medical career in mind since roughly age 8-9.
In 1978 my wife Pat and I came to Wenatchee where I joined the Wenatchee Valley Clinic as the area’s first medical oncologist. We raised our two children here, and I retired (for the most part) 32 years later, in 2010, except for doing some intermittent temporary coverages in Alaska, and also part-time work with Hospice until 2017. We have five grandchildren, all living in western Washington. Family and friends, hiking, playing music, and winter skiing fill our days.
